This piece is a rework of an oldie I did back in 2016 - I entered it into a contest that DnD and Adobe were holding for the Terror of Undermountain release. I ended up taking one of three runner-up spots, which feels like a huge honor when there were so many good submissions.
Anyhow, I thought it was interesting to try and redo a piece from the past. I tried to capture that mindset I had originally, and see if I could convey it differently or more clearly than before. I think what turned out was really different! Of course, being the self-reflective artist, I look back at the old piece as kind of crappy - the anatomy is weird, my values are a little harsh, the color is sort of accidental. But it's still a cool piece imo, and I see where I have improved/where I haven't. It was definitely informative to try!
